XRP has one of the most eventful price histories in cryptocurrency. The asset reached its all-time high of $3.65 USD in July 2025, driven by the resolution of the SEC lawsuit, inclusion in the U.S. strategic crypto reserve announcement, and surging institutional adoption. Since that peak, XRP has declined approximately 62% to current levels near $1.38.

In 2017–2018, XRP experienced its first major bull run, reaching nearly $3.84 in January 2018 at the peak of the crypto mania. The subsequent bear market saw XRP collapse to below $0.20, where it remained for years during the prolonged regulatory uncertainty stemming from the SEC's 2020 lawsuit against Ripple Labs.

The SEC lawsuit resolution in 2025 marked a turning point, with XRP surging from under $0.50 to above $3.50 within months. This rally was validated by institutional players including Standard Chartered, which published formal price targets for XRP — an unprecedented level of mainstream financial analysis for the asset.

About XRP

XRP and the XRP Ledger were created by David Schwartz, Jed McCaleb, and Arthur Britto. Development began in 2011 and the ledger launched in June 2012. The design goal was a payments-focused system capable of reaching consensus without mining, while maintaining decentralization through validator participation.

About Ripple

Ripple Labs has maintained a consistent escrow release schedule since 2017, releasing up to 1 billion XRP monthly. Much of the released XRP is returned to escrow, modulating the effective circulating supply increase. This transparent supply management has contributed to XRP's position as a trusted institutional-grade digital asset.
